fish species and bait choice
At Loppa Havsfiske in Lopphavet, you'll encounter highly varied sea fishing. The main species is halibut, but you'll also find spawning cod, summer cod, saithe, large redfish, plaice, wolfish, as well as species like monkfish, ling, pollack, and haddock.
When it comes to bait, rubber jigs weighing 200–500 g work very well for halibut, cod, and saithe. For more active fishing, spinning with 100–200 g jigs on shallow plateaus is both popular and effective, especially for halibut.
Bait fishing with live bait is often used for targeted halibut fishing, while a pirk is a sure bet for cod and saithe. For redfish, rubber makk is the first choice, and for plaice, simpler bottom rigs are used.
Bait choice and method are easily adapted to depth, weather, and species, and the great variety near the camp means you can always find the right type of fishing.
WESTIN CRAZY DAISY JIG - FANCY COLA COCOA / 180g is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.

How do you fish at Loppa Havsfiske?
How do you fish at Loppa Havsfiske?
Fishing at Loppa Havsfiske is conducted as boat-based sea fishing in the fjords and coastal waters of the Loppa Sea. The best fishing spots are close to the camp, providing short travel times and more efficient fishing time.
Halibut is fished with both spin fishing on shallow plateaus, jigging, and bottom fishing with bait fish. Spin fishing with jigs is very popular and offers active fishing with aggressive bites.
Cod and coalfish are primarily caught with jigs or pilkers, while redfish are caught in deeper waters with rubber mackerel rigs. Plaice are caught with simpler bottom rigs.
Fishing is adapted to weather, depth, and season, and thanks to the camp's sheltered location, there are almost always areas to fish. This makes Loppa an easily accessible and varied destination for sea fishing in Northern Norway.

What is the weather and climate like?
The weather at Loppa Havsfiske in Northern Norway is influenced by the Gulf Stream, which provides a milder coastal climate than many expect at these latitudes.
During the fishing season, the weather varies, but in summer, conditions are often stable with cool temperatures and long, bright days.
