How do you fish during a fishing trip to Norway?
How do you fish during a fishing trip to Norway?
During a fishing trip to Norway, sea fishing is very much about adapting technique and method to species and conditions. Typically, you fish with jigs, soft plastics, or natural baits close to the bottom or through the water column, depending on whether you are targeting halibut, coalfish, or cod.
Fishing often takes place by drift fishing, where the boat moves with the wind over interesting areas such as reefs, drop-offs, and sandy bottoms. It is an effective way to cover large areas and find active fish.
During this hosted trip to Frovåg, your guide will help you with how to fish, choose the right equipment, and adapt your technique to the day's conditions. This means that both beginners and experienced anglers will quickly get into the fishing and get more out of their fishing trip to Norway.
How are the weather and climate?
How are the weather and climate?
The climate in Frovåg, Senja, is typical of Northern Norway, with fresh winds, clear air, and changeable weather. During the fishing season from April to September, temperatures usually range between 8 and 18 degrees Celsius – but some days offer brilliant sunshine and over 20 degrees.
When the sun warms the fjords and the sea is calm, fantastic fishing days await. At the same time, the sheltered coves mean it's almost always possible to find good fishing regardless of the weather. It's a good idea to pack layers and waterproof clothing, so you'll be ready for all conditions. The weather can change quickly!
