    Day 1

    Fly to Bosnia. From the airport, there will be a transfer to Ribnik. The evening will then be spent at the accommodation right on the banks of Ribnik. Briefing on the adventures of the coming days.

Fishing in Bosnia

Bosnia is one of Europe's best-preserved fly-fishing destinations. Crystal-clear water, stable water flow year-round, and a biodiversity that few places can match. Here, you fish in environments that both challenge and reward, often just a short distance from your accommodation.

We move between classic stretches on the Ribnik, Pliva, Sana, and Una rivers. Each river has its own character. Ribnik is perhaps the most well-known, with its calm, technical sections where shy trout demand precision and the right fly choice. Pliva offers beautiful, flowing sections dominated by large grayling and strong rainbow trout. Sana and Una provide larger waters and a chance for truly big fish when conditions are right.

Bosnia's rivers, as good as their reputation

Bosnia's fly fishing is one of Europe's best-preserved. Crystal clear water, stable flow, and a biodiversity that few places can match. Here you fish for trout, grayling, and rainbow trout in environments that are both beautiful and easily accessible.

We move between classic stretches on Ribnik, Pliva, Sana, and Una. Slow, technical sections where the shy trout demands your absolute best. Flowing sections where large grayling and strong rainbow trout take over. It is not uncommon to catch grayling over 50 centimeters, and the larger trout and rainbow trout make their presence known regularly.

Local guides are with us every day. They know every stretch, every boulder, and every time of day when the fishing picks up. Together with the Baitbox team, each fishing day is adapted to conditions and skill level. You don't have to be an expert; you just have to want to be there.

Cabins by the river, rustic food, genuine tranquility

You'll be staying in cabins or apartments right where the fishing takes place, with accommodation in shared double rooms (private rooms are available as an option). Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included every day, along with non-alcoholic beverages. The food is local, rustic, and prepared with care, often served by the river where the day's fishing is summed up.

The silence, nature, and proximity to the water make Bosnia a place where you can truly unwind. It's fishing, food, and atmosphere in its simplest and best form.

Going on a fishing trip to Bosnia with Baitbox

What is a hosted trip?

A hosted trip is a fishing trip where one or more well-known individuals travel with the group throughout. On this trip, Simon and Jens from Baitbox will be your hosts. They will be with you on the water, at the table, and throughout the entire experience.

What fish species are caught in Bosnia?

Mainly trout, grayling and rainbow trout, but also huchen. The rivers Ribnik, Pliva, Sana and Una are known for large specimens of all species. Grayling over 50 centimeters are not uncommon.

Do I need to be an experienced fly fisher?

No. Local guides and the Baitbox team will tailor the days to your level. You don't have to be an expert, but you should be comfortable casting a fly rod.

What happens if I cannot depart from Stockholm, Landvetter, Oslo, or Copenhagen?

Can I rent equipment?

Yes, it's available as an option. Let us know when booking and we'll arrange it.

Is there Wi-Fi available?

Yes, there is Wi-Fi at the accommodation. The connection is sufficient for sending pictures, checking in with family and friends, and sharing the day's catch in the chat. Do not expect streaming or high speeds. If you want to ensure full connectivity, we recommend a local SIM or eSIM card, as coverage in the area is generally good.
