A week filled with sea fishing and camaraderie

A fishing trip to Norway often begins early in the morning when you step down to the pier and are greeted by mirror-flat water, fresh sea air, and the view of the dramatic mountains of Senja. After breakfast, the group gathers with the tour leader from Mieko Fishing to plan the day's fishing, choose the right baits, and devise a strategy based on weather, currents, and tides.

During the day, you will fish in some of Northern Norway's most productive fishing spots with the chance to hook halibut, large coalfish, cod, redfish, and other species that thrive in the deep fjords and along underwater cliffs.

    Before departure, Outside Travels and Mieko Fishing invite all participants to a joint preparation day. The meeting will be held digitally or in person in Gothenburg.

    The purpose is to give you the best possible conditions for the week in Northern Norway. We will cover everything from equipment and bait selection to safety, boat handling, and how fishing is conducted.

    You'll fly to Bardufoss, where you'll be picked up and driven directly to the camp. Once there, you'll have time to settle into your accommodation, check your equipment, and prepare for fishing.

Fishing at Frovåg, Senja

During this Hosted Trip to Frovåg in Senja, we will be fishing at the beginning of the Northern Norwegian sea fishing season – a period when halibut become increasingly active and fishing for saithe, cod, and other species truly kicks off. Spring offers long days, cool air, and excellent opportunities for varied sea fishing.

Halibut is the main target of the week and the species most people dream of catching. During May, it increasingly moves into shallower areas where it hunts, creating excellent conditions for both spin fishing and drift fishing. Together with the tour leader from Mieko Fishing, you will get help with everything from bait selection and technique to how to plan your drifts to increase your chances of hooking a truly big fish.

Saithe fishing gradually improves during spring as the shoals begin to move towards shallow banks and drop-offs. When the fish are present, the fishing can be both intense and fast-paced with hard bites and strong runs.

Cod are consistently in the area throughout the season and provide steady fishing every day. For those who want to vary their fishing, there is also the option to try deeper waters for redfish, a calmer and more methodical fishing that complements the more active sessions for halibut and saithe.

Boathouse by the water

During your hosted trip, you will stay together in lakeside cabins right by the water. Here, the group is divided to create comfortable and social accommodation close to the fishing.

The lakeside cabins are 70 m² and are perfect for group fishing trips. Each cabin can accommodate up to seven people, distributed among three bedrooms. There is a spacious living room where you can gather after a day of fishing, and a fully equipped kitchen for communal meals.

The accommodation is equipped with two toilets, a shower, Wi-Fi, and a TV, providing a comfortable base for the entire week.

Immediately adjacent to the lakeside cabins are practical areas with private freezers, drying cabinets, and plenty of space for clothes and fishing gear.

Before the trip, many choose to supplement their tackle box with some of Mieko Fishing's products, which are developed and adapted for sea fishing in Northern Norway.
