In January 2025, we at Outside Travels conducted a hosted fishing trip to the Maldives together with Emelie Björkman. A trip focused on tropical fishing, where the experience both above and below the surface was central.
During this fishing trip, we explored flats, reefs, and edges in search of species such as GT, bonefish, and other tropical fish. Fishing in the Maldives is varied and visual, where you often see the fish before casting. This demands both technique and focus, but also provides a truly unique feeling when everything aligns.

Together with Emelie Björkman, participants had the opportunity to develop their fishing skills and receive valuable tips directly by the water. Her experience and way of sharing created a safe and inspiring environment throughout the trip.
The accommodation was located on an island in a classic Maldives setting, with daily access to fishing. The setup provided a good balance between active fishing and time for recovery. Each day offered new locations, new conditions, and chances for fish.
The trip ran from January 23rd to February 1st, 2025, and had a limited number of spots, which provided a more personal experience for all participants.
This fishing trip has now passed, but we have also produced a film from the trip that captures the feeling, the fishing, and the environments on site. A great way to get a clearer picture of what a fishing trip to the Maldives with Outside Travels can look like.
